Indiana State Fair: "Bridges to Japan" Exhibition

August 6 - 22, 2010

Volunteer Information

The Indiana State Fair and the "Bridges to Japan" Exhibition open on Friday, August 6th, and the "Preview Reception" for the Sponsors and Partners of "Bridges" will take place on Wednesday, August 4th. As the vision approaches reality, we're excited because there will be so many ways to explore Japan inside the Exhibition!

Sound like fun? Would you like to be involved?

A variety of volunteers are being recruited, including general volunteers to help ensure that everything runs smoothly as well as volunteers who are familiar with Japan. We're also looking for volunteers who are knowledgeable on a certain element of Japanese culture to explain about it or give demonstrations to visitors.

The Indiana State Fair will run every day from August 6th to August 22nd. The Japan Exhibition building will have two main volunteer shifts every day. The morning shift will be from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm and the afternoon shift will be from 2:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Right now, the biggest needs are for both shifts on the weekends, and evening shifts every day.

We also need volunteers to help the staff with final preparations just before "Bridges" opens and to help with the "tear-down" of the Exhibition after the Fair on Wednesday, August 25th and Thursday, August 26th.

If you would like to help but cannot work for an entire shift, please let us know, and we may be able to accommodate your schedule.

Volunteers will receive a Fair pass and a parking pass for the day(s) that they work. Volunteers who work at least a 4-hour shift will also receive a $5 Food Voucher from JASI.

If you have an interest in or have questions about volunteering for the "Bridges to Japan" Exhibition, please fill out this volunteer application form (word file) and email it to admin@japanindiana.org or call 317-635-0123. We would love to have your help! With your support everyone will have a wonderful time!

Thank you very much for your support of the Japan-America Society of Indiana and the "Bridges to Japan" Exhibition! With your help it will be a great success!
