The JASI Yosakoi Team brings the modern, high energy dance of Japan known as yosakoi to the Midwest.  Founded in 2020 as a virtual partnership lead by the “Seiya Dancers”, the most renowned yosakoi group in Tochigi Prefecture, Indiana’s Sister State, the JASI Yosakoi Team has grown into an active and popular dance performance group.  Their repertoire includes original choreography from dance instructor Hitomi Aketani.  The JASI Yosakoi Team performs at festivals and events across the state, from community cultural events to large fundraisers.  They have been the featured performers at events for the Governors of Tochigi and Indiana, respectively.

Yosakoi (よさこい) is a unique style of Japanese dance which has spread throughout Japan and much of the world.  The highly energetic style of dance, which combines traditional Japanese dance movement and contemporary upbeat music, is performed at festivals and events all over the world.  The JASI Yosakoi Team is proud to bring this fun style of dance to Indiana as the premiere yosakoi group in the state.
