Godzilla Weekend in Bloomington

Thanks to the efforts of Beth Bredlau, local Godzilla Historian and Scholar, June 27 - 29 has been dubbed "Godzilla Weekend" in Bloomington. Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson has even proclaimed June 27, 2025 "Godzilla Day". To celebrate the proclamation, and to share the legacy and importance of the Godzilla franchise, a three-night movie event will be held at the Buskirk-Chumly Theater.

Hosted by the Indiana University East Asian Studies Center, the three movies shown will be:

June 27th: The original Japanese version of "Godzilla" (1954). Opening remarks and a post-film Q&A session will be held with Beth Bredlau, and the official Proclamation read by Bloomington Deputy Mayor Gretchen Knapp.

June 28th: "All Monsters Attack" (1969)

June 29th: "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" (1971)
