We’re pleased to announce the 2022 JASI Gala to be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis. The JASI Gala is an exciting evening bringing together corporate and community leaders from across Indiana and the Midwest, and serving as JASI's most important fundraiser, providing the funding necessary to sustain JASI’s operations and services. We hope you will consider becoming a Gala Sponsor and help us celebrate the event of the year that truly exemplifies the Indiana-Japan Relationship.

As we gather under the glow of the brilliant harvest moon, let’s join together in celebrating the harvest of our efforts and this great Japan-Indiana relationship.  In Japan, September is highlighted by Otsukimi, or the Viewing of the Harvest Moon.  Otsukimi evokes images of the warm glow of the bright full moon in the night sky . . .

To celebrate the theme of Otsukimi, we are excited that Astronomer Dr. Dan Milisafljevic of Purdue University will share some of the spectacular newly-released images from the James Webb Space Telescope. Dr. Milisafljevic is now leading the collaboration team of more than 30 institutions which are studying the new images from the Webb telescope.

“The JWST looks even farther into space and time, and with an unprecedented range of wavelengths and strength of definition. The knowledge it uncovers may help scientists take the next small steps out into the universe — and discern where humans want to go next and why.”

Guests of Honor will include Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb and The Honorable Hiroshi Tajima, Consul-General of Japan in Chicago.

The Gala will serve as the occasion for the presentation of The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays and with Rosette, to Thomas V. Easterday, former Senior Executive Vice President of Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (retired), and former President of the JASI Board of Directors. This prestigious decoration is conferred by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, and will be presented by Consul-General Hiroshi Tajima.

JASI is honored that this year’s Annual Gala will also celebrate the Thirty-Fifth Anniversary of Subaru in Indiana. Indeed, the first seeds of this vibrant Japan-Indiana relationship were planted by Subaru through its establishment of Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc., in Lafayette, Indiana. The investment and commitment of Subaru to Indiana, as well as of its many suppliers, has had a tremendous economic, educational, and cultural impact on the state and the Midwest region.  We look forward to celebrating SIA’s 35th milestone and its many achievements and contributions to Indiana.

The Japan-America Society of Indiana is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit cultural and educational organization, and on an ongoing basis offers dedicated support to Japanese and American businesses, individuals, and communities throughout the state.

We are very excited to welcome our members and guests back to an in-person Gala! With a usual attendance of approximately 600, the event is one of the largest gala dinners held by a Japan-related organization in the Midwest.

JASI invites you to serve as a corporate sponsor for JASI's 2022 Gala, and we greatly appreciate your consideration. Your generous support will ensure JASI’s continued success in carrying forth our mission of friendship and cooperation and serving as a leader in Indiana’s important relationship with Japan.

Let’s shoot for the moon in making The Otsukimi Gala one of the brightest!
