Conference Summary Report

The Japan-America Society of Indiana thanks the Corporate Sponsors, Speakers, Guests, and Volunteers for making the Japan Update 2015 Conference a success.  Presented with the support of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the National Association of Japan-America Societies (NAJAS), the conference was attended by more than 200 guests from across the Midwest region and from Japan.  Keynote presentations featured Indiana Governor Mike Pence, Consul General of Japan Masaharu Yoshida, Takeo Nishitani, Chairman of Weber Shandwick Japan, and Joe Young, Director of Japanese Affairs from the U.S. Department of State.  The program, comprised of twenty speakers, made for a full and informative afternoon.  Special appreciation is expressed to the Japanese executives who traveled from Japan to speak in the program, including Shinichi Iizuka, President of TOA Industries Co. and Tony Suzuki, Director of the State of Indiana’s Japan Office, and from California, Yoshiki Takada, President of SMC Corporation.  

Also attending the conference were regional representatives of the National Association of Japan-America Societies, including guests from California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Washington D.C.
