Dr. Koichi WakataAbout the Featured Speaker

JAXA Astronaut Dr. Koichi Wakata will become the first Japanese commander of the International Space Station (ISS) when he travels there in 2013.  This will be the fourth space mission and second long-term assignment for Japan’s most accomplished astronaut.  JASI looks forward to a very special evening as Astronaut Wakata shares his experiences in space and demonstrates the indomitable spirit of the Japanese people, which is especially important as they continue to recover from the disasters triggered by the earthquake in March.

Dr. Wakata's visit was made possible through the special support of The Consulate General of Japan at Chicago.
