The American Pianists Association announces the first concert of the 2011 solo piano recital series, Grand Encounters. The first concert of the series will take place on March 6, 2011, 3:30 pm at The Indiana History Center. This concert will feature Grace Fong, 2009 APA Christel DeHaan Classical Fellow and her husband Jun Iwasaki, Concertmaster of the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. Tickets for this event are $25 for the general public and $22 for APA Members. Funding for American Pianists Association’s Grand Encounters has been provided by the Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation. Proceeds from this concert support American classical and jazz pianists and free arts outreach programs in central Indiana schools, nursing homes and community centers, among others. In 2010, thousands of Hoosiers were able to enjoy world-class music through the American Pianists Association.
