The State of Indiana is honored to host the 56th Annual Joint Meeting of the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association and the Japan-Midwest Association (MWJA) to be held in Indianapolis from September 9-11, 2026. The 2026 Conference, hosted by Gov. Braun and the Indiana Office of Commerce in partnership with the Japan-America Society of Indiana, will strengthen ties between Indiana and Japan and create new opportunities for shared growth across business, innovation and workforce.
An annual event focused on increasing cooperation between Japan and U.S. Midwest states to advance investment and innovation, the 2026 Conference is expected to attract more than 500 attendees, including government officials, business executives and community leaders from the bilateral organization’s ten U.S. states (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin), nine prefectural members (Chiba, Gunma, Nagano, Niigata, Saitama, Shiga, Shizuoka, Tochigi and Yamanashi), and approximately 100 corporations.
Indiana/Japan stakeholders engaged in business, industry and local and regional economic
development are encouraged to attend this year’s conference, which will provide opportunities to engage with Japanese prefectural governments, business executives and industry leaders, as well as representatives of the U.S. Midwest engaged in furthering U.S.-Japan relations.
